90 million peeps see the Pearl Delta in southern China as their home. It is a musty and chaotic melting pot, a patchwork of zones and jurisdictions, a free harbor where no laws are applicable anymore. There is a zone here for every ideology and ethnicity, but the companies and the triads have taken over, in the shadow of the looming threat of a collapsed and resentful China.

Among the flooded industries, glittering monoliths, burnt out residential complexes and luxurious mountain slaves, chemically saturated and flooded rivers flow. It is not possible to see where the shit ends and the water takes off. There is no sharp boundary between the city's fixed, concrete-clad land and the archipelago of barges and floating garbage piles.
